"I should accept poverty in old age as humility and preparation for heaven."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe God is stripping away earthly attachments, teaching you not to love money, preparing your heart for eternity. Fighting for restoration might be carnal—perhaps godly response is acceptance, simplicity, detachment from material things. Spiritual maturity means embracing less.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Religion's poverty-as-spirituality lie mixed with false humility doctrine, making financial loss a virtue and restoration a sign of carnality.
It sounds humble and spiritual, aligns with religious teaching about not loving the world, and provides a noble frame for accepting devastating loss without the fight of faith.
Abraham in old age gave ALL he had to Isaac, gave gifts to his other sons, and died 'old and full of years'—he didn't die in poverty as 'spiritual preparation' but in wealth, having blessed his descendants. Genesis 13:2 says he was 'very rich in livestock, silver and gold'—prosperity in old age was the BLESSING, not a spiritual danger.
I REFUSE the religious lie that poverty in old age is spiritual maturity or preparation for heaven. IT IS WRITTEN that God wants me to prosper in ALL THINGS and be in health—that's divine desire, not carnality. Poverty is the CURSE Galatians 3:13 says Christ redeemed me FROM, not a virtue to embrace. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord grants ABUNDANT prosperity—accepting lack isn't humility, it's rejecting covenant. Abraham died old, full of years, and VERY RICH—that's the pattern. I am blessed with the BARAK of Abraham that includes wealth in old age. Abundance is my covenant right, not a spiritual danger to avoid.
Father isn't using poverty to prepare you for heaven—He's the God who wants you prospering in ALL things, who promised abundance, who blessed Abraham into extreme old age with wealth intact. While religion baptizes your losses as 'spiritual growth,' Father is grieved that you'd accept as holiness what Jesus died to remove as curse.
