"I push people away without meaning to"
How it sounds in your head: You sabotage every good friendship. You get defensive, withdraw when you're hurt, or test people until they leave. You want connection but your own reactions destroy it. It's your fault you're alone.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:17Self-blame narrative applied to attachment wounds and trauma responses that are PROTECTIVE mechanisms, not character defects.
She's watched her own reactions end friendships: snapping when hurt, ghosting when scared, creating conflict to see who stays. The pattern feels like proof of personal brokenness.
Peter DENIED Jesus three times, the ultimate pushing away. Jesus didn't make him earn his way back—He INSTANTLY reinstated him with 'Feed my sheep,' giving him PURPOSE and POSITION immediately.
I REFUSE the lie that I push people away! IT IS WRITTEN that I am a NEW CREATION—old patterns have PASSED AWAY. My trauma responses were SURVIVAL, not sin. The Father didn't wait for me to stop sabotaging—He RAN while I was still in the pig pen. IT IS WRITTEN in Philippians 1:6 'He who began a good work in you will COMPLETE it.' I am BLESSED in relationships, not cursed. The BARAK protects my friendships even when I'm healing!
Your Father is running to you WHILE you're still self-sabotaging, not after you 'fix' it. He's healing the wounds that cause the reactions—ring, robe, sandals, party—healing happens IN the embrace.
