"I need to pace myself and lower expectations as I age. Going hard will break me down."
How it sounds in your head: I used to be able to work long hours, train hard, push through. Now I need to be realistic. My body can't handle what it used to. I'll hurt myself if I don't scale back.
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
-- Philippians 4:13Enemy stealing identity as strengthened by God, replacing it with self-preservation and fear-based limitation.
Recovery takes longer, injuries happen easier, and every fitness article talks about 'age-appropriate' training. Prudence feels like wisdom, but it's actually agreement with decay.
At 85 years old, after 45 years of war and wilderness, Joshua was still leading armies in violent conquest. No mention of pacing himself, scaling back, or age-appropriate activity—just relentless victory in God's strength.
I REFUSE the lie that I must lower expectations to protect my aging body. IT IS WRITTEN: I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens ME. Not some things, not age-appropriate things—ALL things through HIS power. He gives strength to the weak, increases might to those who have none. IT IS WRITTEN: those who wait on the Lord RENEW their strength. Joshua conquered at 85. Caleb took mountains then. The BARAK blessing means my enemies are defeated before me at EVERY age. I'm strengthened by the Vine, not limited by the branch.
The Father isn't handing you a rocking chair—He's handing you Caleb's mountain with giants on it, grinning at your shocked face. He's MORE excited to show His strength through your 'weakness' than He ever was through your youth.
