"I need to make peace with living on less because wanting more is greedy at my age."
How it sounds in your head: You should be content. Grateful for what you have. Wanting financial increase in your seventies is materialistic, greedy, faithless. Spiritual people downsize and simplify. Wanting more is wanting too much.
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
-- Philippians 4:19Religious poverty spirit disguised as contentment, teaching that desiring provision is greed rather than agreeing with God's abundant nature.
Every cultural message and church teaching says contentment is virtue and wanting more is carnal. At your age, you're supposed to be giving away and downsizing, not expecting increase.
Abraham was OLD and well advanced in years when Scripture says, 'The LORD had blessed Abraham in all things'—his wealth INCREASED in old age. His servant testified, 'The LORD has blessed my master greatly, and he has become great; and He has given him flocks and herds, silver and gold'—financial abundance in his final season, not downsizing.
I REFUSE the lie that wanting provision in my seventies is greedy! IT IS WRITTEN that my God supplies my need according to HIS riches in glory—not according to age-appropriate scarcity. Abraham was blessed in ALL things when he was old and well advanced in years. Jesus came to give ABUNDANT life, not downsized contentment with lack. IT IS WRITTEN that the BARAK blessing includes being above and not beneath, the head and not the tail. I AM blessed in my coming in and going out, in my latter years as much as my youth. Wanting MORE is agreeing with my Father's generous nature!
Your Father hears the religious voices telling you to shrink your expectations and make peace with less, and He's furious—'I saved the best wine for last, and they're trying to convince her to settle for water.' He's about to pour out provision in your seventies that will make your younger years look like training wheels.
