"I need to have it all figured out spiritually before I can lead or help others."

How it sounds in your head: You see guys leading small groups or sharing their faith confidently, and you think you can't do that until you have all the answers. Your doubts, questions, and struggles feel like disqualifications from ever being used to help anyone else grow.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."

-- 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Enemy whispers: 'You can't help others until you're perfect.' BUT IT IS WRITTEN: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 - 'Who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.' You comfort others WITH what you're CURRENTLY receiving, not what you've mastered. The disciples were called to follow AND fish for men simultaneously—not follow until perfect, THEN fish. IT IS WRITTEN in Mark 5:19 that Jesus told the demoniac, 'Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you'—immediately after deliverance, not after Bible college. Your current experience of grace is someone else's breakthrough.
Quick Truth: LIE: Figure it all out, then help others. TRUTH: Comfort others with comfort you're RECEIVING now. (2 Cor 1:3-4)

Source: Religious perfectionism that mistakes leadership for expertise and disciple-making for having arrived spiritually.

Why this feels true:

Leaders at church seem to have it together, and you definitely don't. The questions you have about faith feel like weaknesses, and how could you lead someone when you're still figuring it out yourself? You think maturity means certainty.

Mark 5:1-20
Demoniac of Gadara

Man possessed by thousands of demons, living naked in tombs, cutting himself with stones—completely broken and crazy. Jesus delivered him instantly, and when the man wanted to follow Jesus, He said 'No, go tell your friends what I did.' Sent him to minister IMMEDIATELY after deliverance, with zero Bible training or spiritual maturity.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that I need perfect understanding before I can help others. IT IS WRITTEN that God comforts me SO THAT I can comfort others with the SAME comfort—present tense, current experience. The demoniac was sent to minister the same day he was delivered. The disciples were called to fish for men while still learning to follow. IT IS WRITTEN in 1 Timothy 4:12 that I should let no one despise my youth, but be an example. My current questions and growth don't disqualify me—they make me relatable. I'm a broken vessel through which His glory shines, and the cracks are where the light gets out. I don't lead from arrival; I lead from the journey, showing others the Father who runs toward broken people.

But God actually:

The Father isn't waiting for you to graduate spiritually before He uses you—He's using your current mess to reach someone else's. Your honest questions are more powerful than fake answers, and your willingness to share what He's doing NOW is ministry.
