"I need to forgive everyone perfectly before God will forgive me or bless me."
How it sounds in your head: I know I'm supposed to forgive my mother-in-law, my ex, the friend who betrayed me. But I'm still angry. I've prayed about it but the hurt comes back. Until I can forgive like Jesus, I don't deserve God's forgiveness or blessing.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses."
-- Colossians 2:13Source: Religion that twists Matthew 6:15 into Old Covenant performance, ignoring that Jesus spoke it BEFORE the cross changed everything.
You've heard 'forgive others or God won't forgive you' weaponized from pulpits. You feel stuck because the hurt is real and deep, but you think your unforgiveness is blocking heaven's response.
Dying criminal, no time to forgive anyone, no chance to make amends, couldn't even be baptized. Jesus said 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise'—instant salvation with zero forgiveness-checklist completed.
I REFUSE the lie that I must forgive perfectly before God forgives or blesses me. IT IS WRITTEN that He HAS forgiven me ALL trespasses—past tense, finished, done. I am not under the Old Covenant where forgiveness was conditional; I am under the NEW Covenant where forgiveness flows from the CROSS, not my performance. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus—which means God isn't withholding because I'm still processing hurt. The BARAK flows to me based on COVENANT, not my emotional perfection. I release bitterness FROM the place of already being forgiven, not TO GET forgiven.
The Father sees your hurt and isn't waiting for you to stuff it down or fake forgiveness. He's already forgiven you fully at the cross, and from that place of being freely forgiven, He gently walks with you toward releasing others—no pressure, no condemnation.
