THE LIE Sleep & Rest Issues
"I need to fix my sleep hygiene and routine before God can help."

How it sounds in your head: I've heard I need to stop screens before bed, keep a schedule, make my room dark, avoid caffeine - maybe once I do all those things right, THEN God will help. I need to meet Him halfway and do my part first.

Enemy whispers: Fix your sleep hygiene first, then God will help. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: John 15:5 - 'Without Me you can do NOTHING.' Not 'without Me you can do the practical stuff and I'll handle the spiritual' - NOTHING. A branch doesn't fix itself before the vine sends life - it ABIDES and life flows AUTOMATICALLY. Perfect sleep hygiene without Him produces nothing; connection to Him produces fruit (including rest) NATURALLY. You're not a machine to optimize - you're a branch to connect.

Religion makes God's help contingent on perfect human performance; 'God helps those who help themselves' lie.

Why this feels true:

Sleep experts give legitimate advice that seems scientific and practical, making it feel irresponsible to rely on faith instead of 'doing your part.' The steps create a false sense of control.

THE BIBLICAL PRECEDENT John 5:5-9

Man was an invalid for THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS, lying by a healing pool but unable to get in because he had no one to help him with the 'process.' Jesus didn't tell him to try harder to reach the water or fix his approach - He just said 'RISE' and IMMEDIATELY the man was made well and picked up his bed. Zero process, zero 'do your part.'
