"My insomnia is punishment for not having better boundaries with screens and stress."
How it sounds in your head: If I just had more discipline, better self-care, healthier boundaries like everyone preaches, I'd sleep fine. My exhaustion is the natural consequence of my poor choices. I'm reaping what I sowed.
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
-- Matthew 11:28Religion - karma theology dressed as wisdom, making your body the judge of your worthiness.
Every wellness influencer and Christian self-help book confirms that boundaries create health. Your lack of sleep seems like direct evidence of your lack of discipline—cause and effect.
Jonah was in active rebellion, running from God's direct command, yet slept so deeply in the storm that sailors had to wake him. His disobedience didn't prevent supernatural rest—he slept while righteous sailors panicked.
I REFUSE the lie that my insomnia is punishment for poor boundaries. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus gives rest to the laboring and heavy laden—not to the disciplined elite. My rest is a GIFT to the weary, not a trophy for the organized. I am under the BARAK blessing that protected Jacob the deceiver and Judah the immoral. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 6:14, 'You are not under law but under GRACE.' My sleep is not earned by boundaries but received by covenant. I rest NOW in His gift, not my performance.
Your Father sees you overwhelmed and boundary-less and He's not withholding rest until you get it together—He's offering it TO the overwhelmed, AS the overwhelmed, right now. Like Jonah in rebellion sleeping in the storm, His rest isn't conditional on your discipline.
