"I need to fix my anxiety and get mentally healthy before I can handle a job."
How it sounds in your head: I can barely handle getting out of bed some days. How am I supposed to show up for a job and be functional? I need to get my mental health together first, but that feels impossible. I'm too broken to be hired right now. I need to heal first.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Religious performance lie mixed with mental health stigma—making you believe breakthrough is contingent on being 'together' instead of God meeting you in your mess.
You've had panic attacks thinking about interviews. You've canceled plans because anxiety won. The idea of showing up to work every day when you can't even handle regular life feels impossible. You FEEL too broken to function.
Elijah had such severe depression and anxiety he asked God to kill him. He couldn't get out from under a tree. God didn't say 'get yourself together first'—He sent an angel with FOOD, let him SLEEP, then gave him his NEXT ASSIGNMENT while still processing trauma.
I REFUSE the lie that I must be mentally healthy before God can use me. IT IS WRITTEN: His GRACE is sufficient, and His STRENGTH is made perfect in my weakness. I don't need to be 'together'—I need to be CONNECTED to the Vine. IT IS WRITTEN: I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me. My anxiety doesn't disqualify me; His power WORKS through it. I am Abraham's seed—the BARAK blessing doesn't wait for me to be perfect. The Father runs toward me in my mess. I receive my job NOW, and it will be part of my HEALING.
The Father isn't waiting for you to have seven anxiety-free days in a row—He's preparing a position where you'll be so engaged and valued that healing happens WHILE you work. He gives you the breakthrough first, THEN the healing follows. That's grace.
