"I need to confess every hidden sin before God will heal me."
How it sounds in your head: What if there's some sin I forgot about? What if there's unforgiveness I don't even realize I'm holding? I've been trying to mentally inventory every wrong thing I've ever done, every person I need to apologize to, every bitterness I need to root out. But what if I MISS something? What if the reason I'm still sick is because there's some hidden sin blocking my healing, and I just can't figure out what it is?
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you ALL trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Source: Religious teaching that makes healing conditional on perfect confession, turning God's gift into a scavenger hunt where you have to find and confess every sin or stay sick.
She's read James 5:16 ('confess your sins') and 1 John 1:9 out of context. She's heard testimonies of people who got healed after they 'dealt with unforgiveness,' and now she's terrified there's some hidden sin she can't even REMEMBER that's keeping her sick. She's exhausting herself trying to 'get clean enough' for God to move.
The thief had ZERO time to confess every sin, make restitution, get baptized, join a church, or 'get right with God.' He was literally DYING, in the middle of his own execution for crimes he'd committed. He said one sentence of faith, and Jesus said, 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' Instant salvation with zero confession checklist, zero cleanup, zero religious performance.
I REFUSE the lie that I have to hunt down and confess every sin before God will heal me, as if Jesus' blood wasn't sufficient to cover what I can't even remember. IT IS WRITTEN that He has forgiven me ALL trespasses—not the ones I confessed correctly, ALL. The thief on the cross had no time for a confession checklist, no chance to make amends, and Jesus gave him Paradise THAT DAY. IT IS WRITTEN in 1 John 2:2 that Jesus is the propitiation for my sins, AND for the whole world—past, present, future, remembered and forgotten. I am Abraham's seed, covered by the BARAK that protected liars, deceivers, and murderers not because they confessed perfectly but because of COVENANT. My healing isn't unlocked by my confession; it's guaranteed by His BLOOD.
While she's frantically trying to remember every wrong thing she's ever done, terrified she's missing the one sin that's 'blocking' her healing—the Father is running toward her with the healing ALREADY IN HIS HANDS, because it was never about her confession checklist. It was always about His finished work.
