"I need to clean up my life and stop sinning before I can exercise spiritual authority."
How it sounds in your head: I still struggle. I still mess up. How can I command demons when I can't command my own thoughts? Warriors are holy men—I'm still a work in progress. I need to get my act together before I have any business taking authority over darkness.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Performance-based religion merging with enemy's disqualification strategy, flipping grace to works.
The logic is seductive—how can you represent a holy God when you're not holy? Authority seems like a reward for righteousness. Your ongoing battles with temptation feel like proof you're not qualified. You're waiting to 'arrive' before you're worthy.
Peter denied Jesus three times just WEEKS earlier—didn't even go through a restoration program. At Pentecost, filled with Holy Spirit, he preached and 3,000 were saved INSTANTLY. From denier to deliverer in days, not years. No probation, no waiting period—just immediate, explosive authority.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to clean up before I have authority. IT IS WRITTEN: While I was STILL a sinner, Christ died for me. My authority is based on HIS righteousness, not mine. I am the righteousness of God IN CHRIST—not becoming, but AM. The BARAK blessing protected Abraham the LIAR and Jacob the DECEIVER. IT IS WRITTEN: There is now NO condemnation to those in Christ Jesus. I don't produce fruit by striving; I ABIDE and fruit comes naturally. I take authority over every spirit of condemnation and performance. I am QUALIFIED by the blood of Jesus. I walk in authority NOW, not someday when I'm 'good enough.' I am ENOUGH because HE is enough.
Your Father didn't wait for the prodigal to shower before hugging him. He RAN while the boy still STANK. Put the robe on the dirty shoulders. Put the ring on the unwashed hand. Clean comes FROM the embrace, not BEFORE it. You're loved AS-IS, and authority flows from that love—not from your cleanup project.
