"I need to accept this diagnosis and learn to live with it gracefully."
How it sounds in your head: All the Christian articles say 'God's grace is sufficient' and share stories of people who found peace with their illness. Maybe fighting it is lacking faith in God's plan. Maybe acceptance is the mature, spiritual response. Shouldn't I just surrender and trust His will?
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Religion teaching passivity and calling surrender to sickness 'faith,' confusing trust in God with agreement with disease.
Spiritual-sounding people praise those who 'accept God's will' in sickness, making resistance seem immature or faithless. Acceptance feels humble while fighting for healing feels demanding. Youth pastors talk about 'finding God in suffering,' making illness sound spiritual.
This woman had suffered bleeding for TWELVE YEARS, spent all her money on doctors who made her WORSE, and was ceremonially unclean (religiously excluded). She didn't 'accept her condition gracefully'—she FOUGHT her way through a crowd, breaking purity laws to touch Jesus. IMMEDIATELY her bleeding stopped and Jesus said, 'Daughter, your FAITH has made you well.' Jesus praised her REFUSAL TO ACCEPT SICKNESS, not passive surrender.
I REFUSE the lie that accepting sickness is godly. IT IS WRITTEN that it's God's will for me to prosper and be in HEALTH. Jesus destroyed the works of the devil, and sickness IS a work of the devil. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—healing is MINE, purchased at the cross, part of my covenant inheritance. The Abrahamic blessing includes LIFE, and Christ redeemed me from EVERY curse including disease. I am NOT called to make peace with what Jesus DIED to destroy. I am blessed in my body, blessed with strength, blessed with HEALTH because I am IN CHRIST. I RESIST this sickness in Jesus' name and RECEIVE the healing that's already mine.
Your Father isn't asking you to befriend the disease—He sent Jesus to DESTROY it. He's not testing your acceptance; He's offering you HEALING freely, like the father offered the robe to the prodigal without asking him to first accept pig-farming as character development. You don't earn healing by graceful suffering; you RECEIVE it by recognizing it's already yours.
