"I need to accept this as my 'new normal' and adjust my entire identity around it."
How it sounds in your head: The doctors said it's chronic. I need to be realistic. Fighting it is denial. Mature faith means accepting what is. I should rebrand myself around this reality.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
-- Hebrews 11:1World's wisdom that calls surrender to circumstances 'maturity,' when true faith calls things that are not as though they were (Romans 4:17).
Every medical professional has said 'chronic' means permanent. Well-meaning Christians told her to 'accept God's will.' Years have passed with no change. Acceptance feels like wisdom.
'He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, already dead...or the deadness of Sarah's womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith.' He REFUSED to call barrenness 'normal.'
I REFUSE the lie that I must accept chronic illness as my new normal. IT IS WRITTEN that faith is evidence of things NOT SEEN—I don't adjust my identity to what I currently see. My 'normal' is defined by COVENANT, not by current symptoms. IT IS WRITTEN in 3 John 2 that it is God's will that I PROSPER and be in HEALTH even as my soul prospers. The BARAK blessing is my normal—blessed in body, blessed in health, enemies of wellness defeated before me. I am the head and not the tail over this disease. THAT'S my normal.
The Father isn't asking you to make peace with the curse—He already made peace with you through the CROSS. While you're trying to adjust to 'new normal,' He's already written your destiny, and it looks like ABUNDANCE, not chronic limitation.
