"I need sleep medication because my body is broken and won't rest naturally."
How it sounds in your head: Other kids just fall asleep but I need help. Maybe my brain chemistry is wrong or something's defective in how I'm wired. I'll probably need pills forever just to be normal.
"When you lie down, you will not be afraid; yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet."
-- Proverbs 3:24Medical system lie suggesting pharmaceutical dependence instead of supernatural provision as first solution.
If medication helped even once, it creates a false security that his body can't function without external help. Cultural messaging says biology trumps spirituality, making natural rest seem impossible.
Jonah was running from God in total rebellion, and during a violent storm that terrified experienced sailors, he fell into such deep sleep in the bottom of the boat they had to shake him awake. Even in disobedience and chaos, supernatural sleep overtook him instantly.
I REFUSE the lie that medication is my only hope or that my body is broken beyond natural rest. IT IS WRITTEN that when I lie down my sleep WILL BE sweet - not might be, not if I fix myself, but WILL BE. My body was designed by the Creator to rest, and that design isn't defective. IT IS WRITTEN that He alone makes me dwell in safety, and safety produces sleep. I am blessed coming in and going out, blessed lying down and rising up through the BARAK covenant. My Father is RUNNING toward me with the peace that surpasses understanding, guarding my heart and mind RIGHT NOW.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to wean off medication or prove your faith before giving you rest. He's already speaking to your nervous system like Jesus spoke to the storm - 'Peace, be still' - and your body is listening to His voice this very moment.
