"I named my child after a Greek god or goddess and spiritually dedicated them to a false deity."
How it sounds in your head: You chose the name because it was beautiful—Athena, Apollo, Iris, Penelope. You loved the mythology, the strength of the stories. But now you've been told you 'dedicated' your child to a false god through their NAME. Every time you call them, you're invoking a demon. You've marked your child's identity with paganism. You should have known better. Now what? Change their name? Live with the guilt? Their very IDENTITY is tied to a false god.
"But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine."
-- Isaiah 43:1Religion—creates superstition around names and gives demons power through linguistics
Her child IS struggling and someone connected it to the name. She's been told names carry spiritual authority, that she 'prophesied' a false identity over her child. The name IS tied to mythology—that's factual. She loved the name but now it feels like a curse she speaks over her child daily. The permanence of a name feels like a permanent mistake.
David named his son Solomon ('peace'), but God called him Jedidiah ('beloved of the Lord'). God RENAMED him with His own declaration. The name David chose didn't limit what GOD called him. Solomon became the wisest, wealthiest king. God's declaration over a child supersedes parental naming.
I REFUSE the lie that my child's name dedicated them to a false god. IT IS WRITTEN that God calls my child by name and says 'you are MINE.' No mythology, no dead deity, no Greek legend has authority over a life GOD FORMED. IT IS WRITTEN that I am Abraham's seed and my children are heirs of the PROMISE. The BARAK blessing covers my household—the same covenant that protected liars and murderers protects my child, not because I chose the perfect name, but because GOD called them HIS. Their identity is in CHRIST, not in linguistics. The enemy has NO CLAIM where the BLOOD has covered.
The Father sees your child like Solomon—not defined by the name you gave but by the name HE calls them: BELOVED. CHOSEN. REDEEMED. He's not angry about their birth certificate; He's celebrating their position in HIS family, and no myth—living or dead—has authority there.
