"I must have opened a door to the enemy that I can't close"
How it sounds in your head: I keep hearing in deliverance teachings that sin 'opens doors' to demons, and I must have opened one that's stuck. Maybe it was a past sexual relationship, or dabbling in astrology, or unforgiveness I haven't fully dealt with. I've repented, but the attacks continue, so the door must still be open. I'm terrified I don't even know which door it is.
"These things says He who is holy, He who is true, He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens."
-- Revelation 3:7Religious teaching that makes you responsible for keeping demons out through perfect sin management.
When spiritual oppression persists after repentance, it seems like you missed something or didn't repent correctly. The 'open door' doctrine gives a tidy explanation for ongoing struggles.
Manasseh practiced witchcraft, sorcery, consulted mediums, sacrificed his own sons to demons, and filled Jerusalem with innocent blood—the WORST 'open doors' imaginable. When he repented in captivity, God IMMEDIATELY heard his plea, brought him back to Jerusalem, and restored his kingdom—total instant restoration despite the most extreme occult involvement.
I REFUSE the lie that I opened a door I cannot close. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus holds the keys, and what HE shuts, no one can open. I was delivered from the power of darkness and transferred into the kingdom of light. No sin of my past gave Satan permanent access to me. IT IS WRITTEN that the blood of Jesus cleanses me from ALL sin—not most sin, not sin I remember, but ALL. The BARAK blessing covers me just as it covered Jacob the deceiver and Judah the adulterer. I am sealed by the Holy Spirit, and no demon can break that seal.
The Father is saying, 'You're frantically searching for open doors while I already SHUT and LOCKED them all at the cross. Stop trying to find what's wrong and receive what's RIGHT.' He's not waiting for you to find every hidden sin—He's already covered it all with blood while you were still dead in trespasses.
