How it sounds in your head: There must be something I'm doing wrong that I can't even see. Some secret sin or heart issue that's blocking God from moving. If I could just find it and fix it, then He'd answer. I'm spiritually defective and don't even know where.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. The sermon said 'search your heart' and now you're on a sin-hunting expedition, convinced there's some hidden thing blocking everything. Every prayer that goes unanswered feels like evidence of secret disqualification.
She had five husbands and was living with a man she wasn't married to - blatant, ongoing sexual sin. Jesus didn't make her clean up her life first. He OFFERED her living water WHILE she was still in sin, and she became the first evangelist to her city that same day.
I REFUSE the lie that hidden sin blocks God's movement in my life. IT IS WRITTEN that He forgave me ALL trespasses, and the record against me was nailed to the cross. I am not under investigation - I am under GRACE. My righteousness is a GIFT, not an achievement. IT IS WRITTEN there is no condemnation for those in Christ - and that includes condemnation over sins I haven't even identified. I am blessed with Abraham's blessing by covenant, and that blessing protected liars, deceivers, and murderers - how much MORE does it protect me in Christ's blood? The Father isn't withholding breakthrough until I discover the secret sin - He's running toward me with the robe while I'm still far off.
The Father isn't playing hide-and-seek with secret sins you must uncover to unlock His love. Like Jesus offering living water to the woman with five husbands BEFORE she changed anything, He gives breakthrough based on HIS nature, not your invisible perfection.
