"I must be doing something wrong because others see breakthrough and I don't"
How it sounds in your head: My roommate prayed for a job and got one in two weeks. My friend declared healing and her anxiety vanished. I've been praying for months and nothing. What am I missing? What's wrong with me?
"Jesus said to him, 'If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.'"
-- John 21:22Comparison culture fueled by social media testimonies that create a false narrative of universal instant breakthrough for everyone else.
At 19-24, her entire world is comparison—Instagram engagement announcements, friends landing dream internships, miracle stories at church. Her unanswered prayers feel like public failure when everyone else seems to be winning.
Mary and Martha sent word that Lazarus was sick, expecting Jesus to come immediately like He had for others. Instead, Jesus INTENTIONALLY delayed two more days, and Lazarus died. They thought Jesus didn't care or they'd done something wrong—but Jesus was waiting for a RESURRECTION, not just a healing. Four days later, Lazarus walked out of the tomb. Different timeline, greater glory.
I REFUSE the lie that my timeline means I'm doing something wrong. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus told Peter to stop comparing his path to someone else's and just follow. God's method for me is UNIQUE, and His delay isn't denial. IT IS WRITTEN that those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength (Isaiah 40:31), and waiting isn't punishment—it's positioning. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing that protected and prospered him through 25 years of waiting is mine by covenant. God hasn't forgotten me; He's positioning me for RESURRECTION-level breakthrough, not just healing-level. I refuse comparison and embrace HIS faithfulness to MY story.
The Father isn't giving everyone else breakthrough while forgetting you—He's crafting a testimony SPECIFIC to your story that will glorify Him in ways generic quick fixes never could. He sees you. He's coming. And when He does, it will be worth the wait.
