"I missed God's best for my life and settled for second-rate."
How it sounds in your head: There was a better path, a higher calling, a greater purpose—and you missed it. You took the safe route, the comfortable choice, and now you're living in plan B when God had a plan A for you that you'll never experience.
"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."
-- Philippians 1:6Religious teaching that presents God's will as a narrow tightrope you can fall off, rather than a broad grace that works ALL things together for good.
He wonders about roads not taken—different career, different location, different risks. He compares his ordinary life to what he imagines could have been extraordinary if he'd just had more courage, faith, or discernment.
Jonah RAN from God's will, got on a boat going the opposite direction, got thrown overboard, swallowed by a fish—COMPLETELY off track. God said 'Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the SECOND time'—full reset, full restoration of assignment.
I REFUSE the lie that I missed God's best and am stuck in plan B. IT IS WRITTEN that He who began a good work in me WILL complete it—not might, not if I'd done better, but WILL. God has no plan B because MY LIFE is the plan He's perfecting. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord will perfect that which concerns me—my detours don't derail His purpose. Like Jonah who ran the opposite direction and still got a second call, God's plan for me isn't fragile—it's GUARANTEED by His faithfulness, not my performance. I am exactly where GRACE has me.
Your Father doesn't see a man who missed the mark—He sees a son right in the center of His redemptive plan. Every path you've walked, He's been WORKING into the masterpiece He's creating, and He's not done yet. Your best is still AHEAD.
