"I lied to get benefits or insurance money and lived on stolen funds."
How it sounds in your head: I faked disability, or lied on my husband's insurance, or got widow benefits I didn't deserve, and I've been living on that money for decades. I'm a fraud who stole from the government or insurance companies. Every check feels like stolen money. How can I be forgiven when I can't possibly pay it back?
"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit."
-- Titus 3:5Enemy uses welfare fraud to paint you as a thief who 'worked the system' and therefore can't be trusted or forgiven. The world calls it smart survival, but guilt says it's theft.
You've cashed checks for years knowing the foundation was a lie, and at 90+ you can't reverse it or repay. You see news stories about benefit fraud and feel lumped with criminals.
The thief crucified next to Jesus was a career criminal who stole for a living and had hours before death with zero chance of restitution. He couldn't pay anyone back, couldn't undo his crimes, couldn't prove reformation. Jesus gave him paradise THAT DAY based on confession and belief alone, with no restitution required.
I REFUSE the lie that my benefit fraud requires repayment before forgiveness. IT IS WRITTEN that God saved me not by works of righteousness I've done, but according to His mercy. I cannot undo decades of checks. I cannot repay what I took. AND I can receive mercy anyway. IT IS WRITTEN that by grace I'm saved through faith, not of works. The thief on the cross had no time for restitution and received paradise THAT DAY. The BARAK blessing of Abraham covered Jacob who STOLE his brother's blessing with deliberate deception, and Isaac declared 'he SHALL BE blessed'—theft didn't reverse covenant. I am Abraham's seed through Christ, and that blessing covers me not because I was honest, but because Jesus paid what I could never pay. My Father runs toward me with the robe of righteousness, not demanding a check, but offering complete forgiveness. I am forgiven. I am free.
Your Father knows you took money under false pretenses and He's not demanding a repayment plan from a 90-year-old woman with no resources. He's offering the mercy that Jesus purchased at infinite cost so you could receive infinite grace, and He sees you as debt-free because Jesus paid the debt you're terrified you still owe.
