"I kept making the same mistakes over and over; God must be tired of forgiving me."
How it sounds in your head: I repented, then went back to the same sin. Again and again. Decades of the same pattern—anger, addiction, jealousy, whatever it was. God must have given up on me eventually. There's a limit to mercy.
"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
-- Lamentations 3:22-23Source: Religious teaching that God's patience has a quota, creating a cosmic 'three strikes' system that contradicts Jesus's instruction to forgive 'seventy times seven' and His own infinite patience with Israel.
She remembers promising God 'never again' hundreds of times, then falling back into the same trap. The repetition makes her feel like she exhausted God's patience and used up her forgiveness credits.
Israel fell into the same cycle of rebellion SEVEN TIMES in the book of Judges—worshiping idols, suffering consequences, crying out, being rescued. Each time God said He was 'moved to pity' and raised up a deliverer. Same sin, different decade, SAME MERCY.
I REFUSE the lie that repetition exhausts God's mercy. IT IS WRITTEN that His mercies are NEW EVERY MORNING—not depleted by yesterday's failures. Fresh supply DAILY. Jesus said forgive seventy times seven—He was describing His OWN heart. IT IS WRITTEN that nothing can separate me from His love—not failure #1 or failure #1000. I am blessed with the BARAK blessing that protected Israel through CENTURIES of repeated rebellion. God's patience outlasts my patterns. I receive INSTANT RENEWAL every morning—not gradual earning back of favor. The Father isn't counting strikes; He's counting me as RIGHTEOUS.
The Father doesn't have a quota sheet where He's crossing off forgiveness credits—He has an ENDLESS SUPPLY that refills every dawn. Your repeated failures don't reveal YOUR weakness; they reveal HIS STRENGTH. He's not tired of forgiving you; He's tired of you punishing yourself for what He's already forgotten.
