"I haven't done enough good works; my salvation isn't secure at death's door"
How it sounds in your head: I see my life and wonder if I really did enough. Did I serve enough, give enough, witness enough? What if I get to heaven and He says I didn't do enough to prove I was really saved?
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
-- Ephesians 2:8-9Religious teaching that salvation requires works to prove it's real.
Facing eternity, she's mentally reviewing her life like a final exam, measuring works instead of resting in grace. Fear of judgment feels reasonable when death is near.
Zero good works. Zero time to prove himself. Zero opportunity to serve, give, or witness. Just 'Lord, remember me'—and Jesus said 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' Salvation in one sentence, zero works required.
I REFUSE the lie that my works determine my salvation! IT IS WRITTEN that I am saved by GRACE through faith, NOT of works. My entrance to heaven was purchased by Jesus' blood, not my service record! I am as secure as the thief on the cross who had ZERO works and got paradise. IT IS WRITTEN that nothing can separate me from the love of God in Christ—not death, not my inadequacy, NOTHING. I am the righteousness of God in Him, not because I did enough, but because HE is enough!
The Father isn't reviewing your resume at heaven's gate—He's looking at His Son's blood over you and saying 'MINE.' Like the thief with no works, you're welcomed not for what you did, but for WHO you're covered by. Jesus said 'It is FINISHED,' not 'You must finish.'
