"God can't trust me with blessing because I mismanaged what He gave me before."
How it sounds in your head: I blew the money. I wrecked the relationship. I squandered the opportunity. Why would God give me another chance when I proved I can't handle it? He's withholding blessing now because I failed the test then. I'm in financial consequences because of my past stewardship, and I need to prove myself trustworthy before He'll release provision again.
"But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry.'"
-- Luke 15:22-23Source: Dave Ramsey theology that positions God as a cosmic financial advisor who withholds based on your stewardship track record.
You're living with real financial consequences from past decisions and the teaching that 'God won't give you more than you can handle' makes it sound like you're in remedial money class. Your current lack feels like divine discipline for past waste.
The son demanded his inheritance early (insulting), blew it ALL on reckless living and prostitutes, and ended up starving. The father RAN to him, gave him FULL restoration including the signet ring (financial authority), and threw an extravagant party—no probation, no proving himself, instant full access.
I REFUSE the lie that my past mismanagement disqualifies me from present blessing. IT IS WRITTEN that the father gave the prodigal the RING and ROBE and threw a party before he proved anything. God's not waiting for me to demonstrate better stewardship—He's running toward me with restoration. IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 3:14 that the BLESSING of Abraham comes on me through Christ, and that blessing made Abraham RICHER even when he LIED. The BARAK doesn't wait for my fiscal responsibility; it flows from COVENANT. I am blessed coming in and going out, and the Lord commands blessing on my storehouses NOW.
The Father isn't holding back until you pass a stewardship test—He's the one who PREPARED the fattened calf while you were still in the pig pen. He's not afraid of your past mistakes; He's generous TOWARD your present surrender, and He gives the ring before you balance the budget.
