"I have to keep paying for this in my heart even if God doesn't require it."
How it sounds in your head: Theologically I know I'm forgiven, but emotionally I feel like I owe something. Maybe God's moved on, but I haven't earned the right to move on. The debt might be paid legally, but morally I still owe.
"Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:14Source: Two-tier theology that separates legal standing from emotional freedom, creating a false distinction between positional truth and practical experience.
You've been taught to divide your theology from your emotions, believing intellectual assent without emotional freedom is humility. Your feelings lag behind truth and you've made peace with that gap instead of closing it.
A servant owed ten thousand talents (billions in today's money—impossible to repay in a thousand lifetimes). He begged for time to pay it back. The master didn't give him time—he FORGAVE THE ENTIRE DEBT instantly, with no payment plan, no installments, no emotional penance required.
I REFUSE the lie that there's a separate heart-debt after the cross-debt is paid. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus wiped out the handwriting of requirements against me and nailed it to the cross—ALL of it, legal and emotional. When Jesus said 'It is finished,' He meant my obligation is finished, my debt is finished, my penance is finished. IT IS WRITTEN that I have been forgiven a ten-thousand-talent debt I could never repay, and the Master didn't give me a payment plan—He cancelled the debt entirely. I owe nothing. Not legally, not emotionally, not ever.
The Father isn't keeping two sets of books—one legal and one emotional. When He tore the veil, He tore all of it. He's not waiting for your feelings to catch up to theology; He's inviting your feelings to believe what He's already declared finished.
