"I have to choose between giving to God's work now or saving for retirement."
How it sounds in your head: If I tithe or give to missions, there's nothing left to save. If I save for retirement, I'm robbing God. The math doesn't work for both, so I have to choose between being faithful now or being secure later.
"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it."
-- Malachi 3:10Scarcity religion: makes God's provision and your provision compete, turns stewardship into a zero-sum game, implies God needs your poverty to fund His work.
Your budget is TIGHT and the numbers are real - every dollar to one thing means a dollar not going to another. Sermons say 'trust God with your finances' which sounds like give now and hope for later, and saving feels like the opposite of trust.
She had ONE meal left for her and her son, then planned to die. Elijah asked for it FIRST - seemingly cruel economics. She gave, and the oil and flour never ran out through the entire famine. Giving first didn't deplete her; it opened supernatural supply that covered her needs abundantly.
I REFUSE the lie that I must choose between God's work and my provision, or that faithful giving means personal lack. IT IS WRITTEN that God opens heaven's windows with blessing I can't contain - OVERFLOW for giving, saving, and living. I reject scarcity thinking that makes God's provision compete with mine. IT IS WRITTEN that when I seek FIRST the Kingdom, ALL these things are added - not subtracted, ADDED. The BARAK blessing isn't either/or; it's blessed in my storehouses AND my giving, blessed in every direction. My Father isn't honored by my poverty or financial stress. He multiplies seed to the sower - I give in faith, save in wisdom, and trust Him for supernatural multiplication that makes BOTH abundant.
Your Father isn't asking you to choose between Him and your future - He's inviting you into multiplication where giving and saving both flourish because HE is the Source of both. He's not a jealous God competing for your money; He's a generous Father ensuring you have overflow in every direction, present provision and future security flowing from the same infinite supply.
