"I have a disease I'll never be cured of. I'll die an addict."
How it sounds in your head: They say addiction is a disease—chronic, incurable. I can manage it but never beat it. Even on my deathbed, I'm still sick. I'll meet Jesus as a broken, diseased man.
"Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed."
-- 1 Peter 2:24Source: medical model that replaces spiritual authority with clinical hopelessness, making addiction bigger than Jesus.
He's been told by doctors, counselors, and programs that addiction is a lifelong disease. Every medical form lists it. The label feels scientific, official, permanent. The system gave him an identity stronger than the Gospel.
She had an 'incurable' hemorrhage for 12 YEARS, spent all her money on doctors who made her WORSE. Medically hopeless. One touch of Jesus' garment—IMMEDIATELY the flow of blood dried up and she FELT in her body that she was HEALED. Chronic became cured in ONE MOMENT.
I REFUSE the lie that addiction is incurable. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, finished work. Medical labels do not override Kingdom reality. I am not defined by a diagnosis—I am defined by the BLOOD. IT IS WRITTEN in Exodus 15:26 that He is 'the Lord who heals you.' Not manages. HEALS. I declare that addiction is under my feet because I am seated with Christ in heavenly places (Eph 2:6). The BARAK blessing of Abraham includes HEALTH and WHOLENESS, and I am Abraham's seed through Christ.
The Father doesn't see you as diseased—He sees you as His HEALED son, clothed in righteousness. The prodigal came home sick, filthy, broken—and the Father didn't send him to rehab first. He threw the party IMMEDIATELY because sonship isn't conditional on health—it's the SOURCE of it.
