"I hate my parents for what they did and that makes me a bad Christian."
How it sounds in your head: The Bible says honor your father and mother, but I feel rage. I'm supposed to forgive and love them, but I don't even like them. My hatred proves I'm not really saved.
"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
-- Romans 8:38-39Religious condemnation—enemy using legitimate pain and honest emotion to question salvation and create shame for being human.
The hatred is REAL and feels sinful. You've been taught that anger is sin, that real Christians forgive immediately, and that honoring parents is non-negotiable no matter what they did.
Man after God's own heart who wrote 'Oh, that You would slay the wicked, O God! Do I not hate them, O LORD, who hate You? I hate them with perfect hatred.' God called him righteous WHILE he expressed perfect hatred—honest emotion doesn't disqualify you from God's love.
I REFUSE the lie that my anger at my parents disqualifies me from God's love. IT IS WRITTEN that NOTHING can separate me from the love of God in Christ—not things present, not my rage, not my honest hatred of what they did. My salvation isn't based on performing forgiveness—it's based on JESUS' finished work. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ. I am the righteousness of God, and my Father can handle my honest emotions. He's not afraid of my rage. He's healing it.
Your Father is running toward you not despite your rage but INTO it—He's not scandalized by your honesty. He's whispering 'I saw what they did. I wept with you. Your anger is valid, and I'm going to heal it without shaming you for feeling it.'
