"I had same-sex relationships in my past and that sin is permanently disqualifying."

How it sounds in your head: It wasn't just a moment—it was years, a whole relationship, a life I lived. The church says it's an abomination. Even though I'm married to a man now, that past makes me unredeemable.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

"Do not be deceived... neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites... will inherit the kingdom of God. And SUCH WERE some of you. But you were WASHED, you were SANCTIFIED, you were JUSTIFIED in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."

-- 1 Corinthians 6:9-11
Enemy whispers: 'That sin is in a special category—you're permanently stained.' BUT IT IS WRITTEN: 1 Corinthians 6:11—'And SUCH WERE some of you. But you WERE washed.' Past tense. Not 'you're trying to be washed' or 'you're mostly washed'—you WERE washed. Sanctified. Justified. DONE. IT IS WRITTEN: 'If anyone is in Christ, he is a NEW creation; old things PASSED away' (2 Cor 5:17). Your past doesn't follow you into your new identity.
Quick Truth: LIE: Sexual past disqualifies me. TRUTH: SUCH WERE some of you—washed, sanctified, justified (1 Cor 6:11).

Source: Selective religious hierarchy of sins, making sexual sins unforgivable while ignoring gossip, greed, and pride.

Why this feels true:

The cultural war has made this the line in the sand, and the church's rhetoric has labeled it uniquely vile. Your own journey to where you are now feels tainted by where you were.

Joshua 2:1-21, 6:22-25
Rahab

Rahab was a practicing prostitute—ongoing sexual sin—when she helped the spies. God didn't wait for her to quit her profession first; He saved her household IMMEDIATELY, placed her in the Messianic line, and listed her in the Hall of Faith (Hebrews 11:31) as a hero.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that my sexual past creates a permanent stain. IT IS WRITTEN: such WERE some of you—WERE, not 'are,' not 'always will be'—WERE. I have been washed, sanctified, justified in Jesus' name. IT IS WRITTEN: I am a new creation; old things passed away and ALL things became new. My past relationships don't define my current identity. God doesn't have a hierarchy of forgivable sins—all sin cost Jesus the same blood, and all sin is equally covered. The BARAK blessing is mine by covenant, not by sexual purity performance. I stand righteous because HE is righteous, and I'm in Him.

But God actually:

The Father didn't wait for you to straighten out your sexuality before drawing you—He pursued you IN that life, called you OUT of it with love, not shame, and doesn't hold it against you now. The robe He puts on you covers everything that was; you're not a 'reformed sinner,' you're a beloved daughter.
