"I felt saved once but I've sinned so much since that I lost it."
How it sounds in your head: I prayed the prayer, felt peace, maybe even got baptized. But then I went right back to the same stuff - partying, porn, lying, all of it. Salvation must be something you can lose through repeated sin. I probably have to get saved again, but how many times can you do that?
"And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand."
-- John 10:28Religious teaching that salvation is maintained through behavior rather than secured by Jesus' finished work.
The contrast between his initial experience and his current lifestyle feels like evidence of lost salvation, and the idea that he might need to 'get saved again' creates confusion about whether it ever worked the first time.
Solomon had the visible presence of God in the temple HE BUILT, then turned to idolatry, married 700 wives and 300 concubines, and built altars to false gods in his old age. Despite catastrophic apostasy, he's still called 'beloved of God,' still wrote Scripture (Ecclesiastes), and God's covenant with David through him wasn't voided - consequences came, but relationship remained.
I REFUSE the lie that my sin can snatch me out of Jesus' hand. IT IS WRITTEN in John 10:28 that I shall NEVER perish and no one can snatch me out of His hand - including me. Salvation isn't something I maintain through perfect behavior; it's something HE secured through His blood. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 1:13-14 that I'm SEALED with the Holy Spirit as a GUARANTEE - not 'sealed unless you mess up' but SEALED period. The thief on the cross had zero time to prove his salvation through lifestyle and went straight to paradise. The prodigal son was STILL A SON in the pig pen - position didn't change, fellowship did. The BARAK blessing wasn't revoked when Abraham lied or Jacob deceived - covenant HOLDS regardless of behavior. My Father's grip is stronger than my sin.
Your Father isn't playing hot potato with your salvation - you're not in His hand one moment and out the next based on behavior. You're SEALED, which means He put His stamp of ownership on you and guaranteed the outcome, and your sin doesn't void His seal.
