"I experimented sexually in ways I can never admit. That secret makes me unredeemable."
How it sounds in your head: There are things you tried—maybe same-sex experiences, threesomes, things that cross lines you can't even name in church. You're convinced that THIS sin is the one that's too far, the one Jesus' blood doesn't quite cover.
"But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin."
-- 1 John 1:7Religious hierarchy of sin that makes sexual sin 'worse' than others, plus enemy accusation that certain sins put you beyond redemption.
Cultural and religious messaging has convinced him that sexual sin—especially 'unconventional' sexual sin—is uniquely disqualifying in God's eyes.
Paul lists fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, drunkards—the WHOLE LIST of 'unacceptable' sins. Then verse 11: 'And SUCH WERE some of you. But you were WASHED.' Past tense, immediate cleansing, zero waiting period, no categories of 'too far gone.'
I REFUSE the lie that my sexual experimentation is beyond redemption. IT IS WRITTEN that the blood of Jesus cleanses from ALL SIN—not most sin, not acceptable sin, but ALL. The Corinthian church was FULL of people with sexual pasts that would shock modern Christians, and Paul called them WASHED, SANCTIFIED, JUSTIFIED. IT IS WRITTEN that where sin abounded, GRACE SUPER-ABOUNDED. There is no sin too big for the cross. I am not my sexual history—I am the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD in Christ. The BARAK blessing covered Judah who slept with his daughter-in-law—covenant doesn't exempt certain sins. I stand CLEAN because of the BLOOD.
Jesus didn't die for 'manageable' sins. He died for the WORST of the worst, and His blood is MORE than enough for whatever you did. You're not shocking Him; you're already fully known and fully loved.
