"I don't need church. I can have God on my own without the hypocrites."
How it sounds in your head: Why do I need to sit in a building with people who act one way on Sunday and another way the rest of the week? I can pray at home. God understands I'm better off alone.
"Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."
-- Hebrews 10:25Source: independence spirit mixed with legitimate hurt, creating isolation that the enemy uses to cut off spiritual covering and community.
He's been genuinely wounded by church people and staying home feels safer than risking more pain. Solo faith seems pure compared to messy community.
Elijah ran from Jezebel and isolated in a cave, declaring he was the only faithful one left and everyone else had failed. God immediately corrected him: 'I have seven thousand in Israel who haven't bowed to Baal'—there was a faithful remnant he didn't know about because he isolated.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm better off alone. IT IS WRITTEN not to forsake assembling together, because I need community and they need me. Isolation is the enemy's trap, not God's protection. I am part of the body of Christ, the BARAK blessing flows through covenant community, not isolation. IT IS WRITTEN that iron sharpens iron—I need brothers to sharpen me and I have something to give them. I choose authentic community over comfortable isolation. I am connected, needed, and strong in the family of God.
While you're building walls to protect yourself from more hurt, the Father is running toward you saying, 'I have a tribe for you—imperfect people who'll love you through the mess.' He's not asking you to return to the place that wounded you, but He is inviting you into genuine family where you're celebrated, not used.
