"I don't have time for friendships with work and family responsibilities taking everything"
How it sounds in your head: Your wife needs you, your kids need you, your boss needs you. There's no margin left for guy time without feeling guilty or irresponsible. Friendship feels like a luxury for men with easier lives. You're in survival mode, not friendship mode.
"And He said to them, 'Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.' For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat."
-- Mark 6:31Religion: Martyr mentality that equates self-neglect with righteousness
You cancelled on guys three times this month because of work deadlines and kid commitments. By the time everyone's asleep, you're too exhausted to text anyone. The calendar literally has no space, and adding friendship feels like one more failure.
Jesus had multitudes to heal and teach, yet He spent the ENTIRE NIGHT with twelve men on a mountain—prioritized deep friendship over mass ministry. That investment in friendship changed the world INSTANTLY through those men.
I REFUSE the lie that friendship is a luxury I can't afford. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus commanded rest and withdrawal even during intense ministry. I am not a martyr—I am a SON. IT IS WRITTEN in Mark 6:31 to come aside and rest. The Father doesn't want my exhaustion—He wants my WHOLENESS. The BARAK blessing includes RELATIONSHIPS that restore me, not drain me. Friendship isn't competing with family—it's COMPLETING me for family. I have TIME for what God says is essential, and male friendship is ESSENTIAL.
The Father is grieving your isolation more than celebrating your sacrifice—He designed you to need brothers, and He's making space you can't see yet. Your best season as husband and father REQUIRES the friendships you think you can't afford.
