"I don't have enough breath, strength, or time left to accomplish what God called me to."
How it sounds in your head: You had 90 years. Others accomplished great things for God. You were called to something but ran out of time, energy, strength. Your body is failing. Your calling is unfinished. You'll stand before God with an incomplete assignment because you weren't enough to finish it.
"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."
-- Philippians 1:6Performance theology plus enemy accusation that God's kingdom work depends on human completion.
He can feel the literal running out of breath, strength, and time. Every fading ability feels like evidence of an unfinished assignment, as if God's purposes depended on his physical capacity to complete them.
Simeon waited his ENTIRE LIFE for one moment - to see the Messiah. He was old, dying, with nothing to show but decades of waiting. Then God brought baby Jesus to the temple, Simeon held Him for maybe 5 minutes, blessed Him, and said 'Now I can die in peace - my calling is complete.' Five minutes. One encounter. Complete calling.
I REFUSE the lie that God's purposes depend on my remaining strength. IT IS WRITTEN that HE who began the work in me will COMPLETE it - not me, HIM. My job was FAITHFULNESS with what I had, not COMPLETION of everything. IT IS WRITTEN that He makes everything beautiful in HIS TIME, not mine. Simeon's entire calling was fulfilled in 5 MINUTES holding baby Jesus - God's purposes don't require my longevity. Moses died before entering the promised land, but his calling was COMPLETE because he was FAITHFUL. The BARAK blessing that accomplished God's purposes through Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob accomplishes them through ME - not by my strength, but by God's NATURE. I gave my YES. That's enough.
The Father is running toward you not holding an unfinished checklist but celebrating 'FAITHFUL.' He's saying, 'You think in assignments; I think in RELATIONSHIP. You've been faithful with what I gave you. That's complete. I'll finish the rest - that's MY job, not yours.'
