"I deserved a better father and I have every right to stay angry at him."
How it sounds in your head: He was absent, critical, maybe abusive. Other girls had dads who cherished them—I got leftovers or worse. Now he's gone and I'm stuck with this bitterness that feels righteous, like the anger is all I have left of my dignity.
"Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you."
-- Ephesians 4:31-32Enemy convincing you that anger protects you when it actually imprisons you—keeping you tethered to the past.
The wounds are real and the absence was real. Anger feels like the only power you have over what happened. Letting it go feels like saying it was okay.
Brothers sold him into slavery, he spent years in prison for a crime he didn't commit. When he had all the power to destroy them, he said 'You meant evil against me; but God meant it for good.' INSTANT choice to release them—no process, no therapy, just declaration of God's sovereignty.
I REFUSE the lie that anger protects me. IT IS WRITTEN: I put away all bitterness because God in Christ ALREADY forgave me—while I was still a sinner, before I deserved it. My father's failures do not define me. IT IS WRITTEN: The Father has made me accepted in the Beloved. I am not an orphan—I have a PERFECT Father who runs toward me, who sees me, who delights in me. The BARAK blessing is mine—I am blessed, whole, and FREE. Anger is a prison; grace is the key I'm turning NOW.
Your Heavenly Father has been fathering you in every moment your earthly father failed. Every absence was filled with His presence. He's not asking you to minimize the wound—He's offering to heal it INSTANTLY with the same grace that saved you.
