"I chose career over family and now my kids resent me—I can't undo those years."
How it sounds in your head: You climbed the ladder, traveled for work, made the money—but your kids grew up without you. Now they're distant, resentful, and you realize you traded presence for provision. The years you missed are gone, and you can't get them back.
"And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse."
-- Malachi 4:6Source: world and trauma. Culture sold you the lie that you could 'have it all,' and now the bill is due. The enemy convinces you that relational damage is permanent and God won't restore what time took.
Your kids tell you they felt abandoned. You missed games, recitals, bedtimes. You were present physically but absent emotionally, and the gap between you feels unbridgeable. The success you built feels hollow.
The father lost YEARS with his son—years of rebellion, waste, shame. When the son returned, the father didn't require repayment of lost time. He RAN, EMBRACED, and RESTORED instantly. From pig pen to party in 15 minutes—no process, no probation.
I REFUSE the lie that I can't undo lost years. IT IS WRITTEN: God will TURN the hearts of children to their parents—not 'might' but WILL. The prodigal's father lost YEARS and got instant restoration—no probation, no earning it back. IT IS WRITTEN: God RESTORES the years the locust ate. I am under the BARAK blessing—the blessing that can't be revoked even by failure. Abraham and Isaac LIED and were protected. Jacob DECEIVED and was blessed. My relational losses are not permanent under a God who RESTORES. I am not disqualified by my past; I am empowered by His GRACE. My family's future is NOT determined by my past—it's determined by HIS faithfulness.
Your Father isn't counting the years you missed—He's releasing restoration you can't manufacture. While you're replaying regrets, He's already turning hearts. The embrace is coming. The robe, ring, and sandals are ready. Restoration isn't earned; it's GIVEN.
