"I can't retire and still give generously to God's work; I have to choose."
How it sounds in your head: You think about the future and it feels like a math problem that doesn't work out. Either you save for yourself or give to God, but not both. You feel guilty for wanting security and generous for wanting to give.
"Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."
-- Luke 6:38Religious scarcity teaching that pits God's kingdom against personal provision, as if blessing isn't DESIGNED to overflow into both.
The budget seems fixed, and every dollar to retirement feels like a dollar away from giving. Math says you have to choose; faith feels irresponsible.
They were in 'deep poverty' yet gave with 'abundance of joy' and BEYOND their ability, even begging Paul to let them give more. God didn't leave them broke; their generosity released supernatural supply that made Paul boast about them.
I REFUSE the lie that I must choose between provision and generosity. IT IS WRITTEN that when I give, it's given back to me—good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over. The BARAK blessing doesn't create scarcity; it creates OVERFLOW. Abraham was rich enough to give Lot first choice of land and still prospered. Solomon gave God everything and became the wealthiest king in history. IT IS WRITTEN in Proverbs 11:24-25 that those who give freely GAIN EVEN MORE, and generous people will prosper. God doesn't ask me to choose; He multiplies BOTH. Deuteronomy 28:11 says He grants me ABUNDANT prosperity. Not just enough. ABUNDANCE. I give freely and retire abundantly because HIS supply has no limits.
The Father isn't asking you to sacrifice your future on the altar of giving. He's the God of multiplication—five loaves feeding 5,000 with baskets left over. He wants you blessed enough to retire in peace AND give outrageously, because that's who He is.
