"I can't ever try again because I'll just fail and hurt people again."
How it sounds in your head: What if I mess up again? What if I drag others down with me? It's safer to never try than to risk another failure. I can't trust myself anymore.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
-- 2 Timothy 1:7Source: enemy using past failure to paralyze future faith - the spirit of fear masquerading as wisdom and protection.
The pain of failure is so fresh and real that the fear of repeating it feels overwhelming. She can remember specific people who were affected and the thought of risking that again feels irresponsible.
Denied Jesus three times in His darkest hour after swearing he never would. Jesus didn't disqualify him or make him prove himself - He immediately restored him and made him shepherd of the whole church. One failure, instant restoration to greater purpose.
I REFUSE the lie that I can't try again. IT IS WRITTEN that God has not given me a spirit of fear but of power, love, and sound mind. That paralyzing fear is NOT from my Father. My past does not dictate my future - His power in me does. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the head and not the tail, above and not beneath, and my God who began a good work in me will complete it. I do not trust my own ability to succeed - I trust HIS ability in me. He who calls me is faithful, and He will do it. My Father is RUNNING toward me with new opportunities, not backing away in fear of my track record.
Your Father isn't afraid of your failure - He's excited about your next step of faith. Like Peter who failed spectacularly and was immediately promoted to church leadership, your Father sees past failure as qualification to trust Him more, not disqualification from trying again.
