"I can't afford to retire and still give generously to God's work."
How it sounds in your head: You'll have to choose—either have enough for yourself or give to missions and ministry. The budget won't stretch to both. Retirement means living on less, which means cutting generosity. You can't pour from an empty cup.
"Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."
-- Luke 6:38Religion: Creates false scarcity that positions giving and provision as competing priorities rather than giving UNLOCKING provision (Luke 6:38, windows of heaven in Malachi, generous person prospering in Proverbs).
Fixed income retirement projections show barely enough to cover her own needs. Every financial advisor says secure your own oxygen mask first, and giving feels like a luxury she won't be able to afford on a limited budget.
She was preparing her FINAL MEAL before she and her son died of starvation—ultimate scarcity. She gave it to Elijah FIRST, and her jar of flour and jug of oil did not run dry through the ENTIRE FAMINE—years of provision from one act of giving when she had nothing.
I REFUSE the lie that retirement means ending generosity. IT IS WRITTEN that when I give, it will be given to me—pressed down, shaken together, running over. The widow gave her last meal and ate for YEARS through the famine. IT IS WRITTEN in Malachi 3:10 that when I bring tithes, God opens windows of heaven and pours out blessing I don't have room to receive. The BARAK blessing on Abraham made him SO WEALTHY that kings noticed. My generosity doesn't threaten my provision—it MULTIPLIES it. Giving and receiving aren't competing priorities in God's economy—giving is the DOOR to greater supply. I am blessed to be a blessing at every age and stage.
The Father isn't asking you to choose between taking care of yourself and giving to His work—that's scarcity thinking from a system that doesn't know Him. He's the one who multiplied flour and oil for a widow who gave her last meal, proving that in His economy, giving when you have little UNLOCKS the supernatural multiplication you need.
