"I broke God's stewardship principles. That's why the investment failed."
How it sounds in your head: The pastor said God tests our faithfulness with money. Maybe I wasn't faithful enough. Maybe I was greedy. Maybe God let this fail to teach me a lesson about stewardship. I failed the test.
"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."
-- 2 Corinthians 9:8Religious lie: Blessing is earned through correct stewardship and financial obedience rather than received by grace through covenant.
Pre-teens in church environments absorb performance-based theology easily, and when losses happen, it feels like proof of failing God's test. Stewardship sermons create measurement anxiety.
Jacob lied to his blind father, deceived him with goat skin to fake being Esau, and STOLE the blessing through fraud. When Isaac discovered the deception, he trembled but said 'I have blessed him and he SHALL BE BLESSED.' The blessing couldn't be reversed even by deception.
I REFUSE the lie that investment losses prove I failed God's stewardship test. IT IS WRITTEN that God makes all GRACE abound toward me—provision is GRACE, not earned by correct principles. Jacob literally STOLE a blessing through deception and it still couldn't be reversed because blessing flows from covenant. I'm not under stewardship law—I'm under grace where God gives all sufficiency in all things. IT IS WRITTEN: Christ redeemed me from the curse so the BARAK of Abraham is mine—blessed in all I do, head and not tail, above not beneath.
Your Father isn't grading your stewardship report card and withholding provision until you pass. He makes grace abound toward you—all grace, always, in all things—because that's who He is, not because you earned it.
