"Healing was just a sign to authenticate Jesus as Messiah, not for regular believers."
How it sounds in your head: You think about how Jesus's miracles proved He was God, but regular Christians aren't supposed to do that stuff. We're just supposed to believe and live moral lives, not expect supernatural power.
"Then Peter said, 'Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.'"
-- Acts 3:6Source: Clergy-laity divide that reserves supernatural ministry for special anointed people instead of all believers
It keeps you from the disappointment of trying to heal someone and failing. If healing was just Jesus's credential as Messiah, you're off the hook from expecting it in your life.
Ananias was just 'a certain disciple'—no title, no special office—and God sent him to pray for Saul's blindness. Ananias laid hands on him and IMMEDIATELY scales fell from Saul's eyes and he could see—instant healing through an ordinary believer.
I REFUSE the lie that healing was only for authenticating Jesus. IT IS WRITTEN that Peter, an ordinary fisherman, healed the lame man in JESUS'S NAME—that NAME is available to ME. I am under the BARAK blessing where God commands blessing on everything I set my hand to, INCLUDING healing the sick. IT IS WRITTEN in Mark 16:17-18 that THESE SIGNS follow those who believe—I am a believer, therefore signs follow ME. I carry the same Holy Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead; I am not a second-class Christian.
The Father is running toward you with the FULL authority of Jesus's name—not reserved for super-apostles but given freely to EVERY believer, even fishermen and 'certain disciples.' He's prepared the ring of authority so you can operate in the SAME power that healed the lame man.
