"Good Christian girls don't get angry, so I have to hide my feelings"
How it sounds in your head: When I feel mad, I stuff it down because nice girls don't yell or slam doors. Mom says 'be sweet' and church says 'gentle and quiet spirit.' My anger must mean I'm bad.
"Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath."
-- Ephesians 4:26Religion teaches that anger itself is sin, confusing righteous emotion with sinful action, silencing girls into toxic niceness.
She's been praised for being 'such a sweet girl' her whole life and corrected when she shows strong emotion. She sees boys allowed to be loud and passionate while she's told to calm down and be ladylike.
Jesus made a WHIP, flipped tables, drove out money changers with righteous fury, and was called zealous for God's house. Perfect Jesus got ANGRY and it wasn't sin, it was holiness defending what matters.
I REFUSE the lie that anger makes me a bad Christian girl. IT IS WRITTEN to be angry and not sin, which means anger itself is not the problem. Jesus flipped tables and made whips when He saw injustice. I will not perform toxic sweetness to earn approval. My emotions are VALID and God gave them to me. IT IS WRITTEN there is no condemnation in Christ, so I will not condemn myself for feeling what I feel. I am the righteousness of God in Christ whether I'm smiling sweetly or fighting mad at bullying. My feelings don't disqualify me from the BARAK blessing.
The Father doesn't need you to paste on a fake smile. He gave you anger as a warning system for injustice, and He's not afraid of your big emotions because He's a big God who can handle ALL of you.
