"God won't provide now because I didn't tithe faithfully when I had money."
How it sounds in your head: I hear the preachers saying 'bring the full tithe' and I know I didn't. When I had resources, I was sporadic at best. Sometimes I gave, sometimes I didn't. Now that I'm in need, why would God provide? I didn't give when I could; He won't give now that I can't.
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
-- Philippians 4:19Religion's transactional gospel that makes God's provision dependent on tithing performance, creating a spiritual vending machine instead of a Father.
She can remember specific times she chose not to give or gave less than ten percent. Malachi 3:10 is constantly quoted as conditional ('IF you bring tithes, THEN I'll open windows'), and her current lack seems to prove that God is withholding because she didn't perform correctly.
He never tithed, never gave to ministry, never served in church, never had opportunity to prove financial faithfulness. He was a criminal dying for his crimes. Yet when he simply asked Jesus to remember him, he received immediate promise: 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise'—full access to everything based on grace alone.
I REFUSE the lie that God's provision depends on my tithing record. IT IS WRITTEN in Philippians 4:19 that God supplies ALL my need according to HIS riches—not my giving history. The thief on the cross never tithed and got paradise the same day. God doesn't operate a spiritual vending machine where I must insert ten percent to receive provision. IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 3:13-14 that I have Abraham's blessing by covenant, and that BARAK protected and prospered Abraham even when he LIED repeatedly. Provision flows from who my Father IS, not from what I've given. I am under grace, not law. My God delights to supply all my needs because I am His beloved daughter, period.
Your Father didn't look at your giving records before deciding to love you. He's not the IRS auditing your spiritual receipts—He's the Father who killed the fattened calf for the son who gave Him NOTHING but returned in need.
