"God won't heal me until I've learned the lesson this trial is teaching."
How it sounds in your head: There must be something I'm supposed to understand, some spiritual insight I'm missing. Once I figure out what God is trying to show me through this, then He'll heal me. I just haven't learned it yet.
"When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: 'He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.'"
-- Matthew 8:16-17Source: Religion - making God's healing conditional on your performance, turning grace into a test you must pass.
It gives you control in a situation where you feel powerless - if there's a lesson, you can find it and 'graduate' from suffering. It makes God's delay seem purposeful instead of questioning why healing hasn't come.
Stood at a distance crying for mercy, didn't know theology or lessons, just desperate. Jesus said 'Go show yourselves to the priests' and AS THEY WENT they were cleansed - all ten healed instantly mid-obedience with zero lessons learned (nine didn't even return to thank Him).
I REFUSE the lie that God is withholding healing until I learn something. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus healed ALL who came to Him - healing isn't a grade I earn by passing spiritual tests. He took my infirmities and bore my sicknesses 2,000 years ago; the work is FINISHED. I don't have to figure out the 'why' to receive the 'what.' IT IS WRITTEN that it's the Father's good pleasure to GIVE me the kingdom - healing included, no lessons required. I am blessed under the BARAK covenant where blessing flows from His promise, not my comprehension.
The Father isn't dangling healing just out of reach waiting for you to crack the code - He already provided it at the cross and is pressing it into your hands now, no test required. Like the prodigal received everything before learning any lessons, you receive healing by grace, not by graduation.
