"God won't bless me until I get my life together and stop messing up."
How it sounds in your head: You keep making the same mistakes. You promised yourself you'd do better, and then you didn't. You feel like God is waiting for you to prove you're serious before He'll move in your life, like His favor is on hold until you clean up your act.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Religious teaching that God's blessing is a reward for good behavior, making grace conditional on performance.
You keep stumbling in the same areas, and it feels logical that God would wait for consistency before investing in you. Every mistake feels like it pushes His blessing further away.
Jacob LIED to his father, DECEIVED him to steal a blessing that wasn't his, and wore goatskins to fake being Esau. When Isaac discovered the deception, he trembled—but the blessing stood. 'I have blessed him, and he SHALL BE BLESSED,' Isaac said. The blessing couldn't be reversed even by lies.
I REFUSE the lie that God's blessing is on hold until I perform better. IT IS WRITTEN that while I was still a sinner, Christ died for me—God didn't wait for me to clean up; He moved toward me in my mess. The BARAK blessing is mine by covenant, not by conduct. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in the city and in the field, blessed coming in and going out. Abraham lied twice and left richer. Jacob deceived and was still blessed. I am under a BETTER covenant through Jesus' blood. The Father isn't waiting; He's running toward me with the robe and ring RIGHT NOW.
The Father isn't standing at a distance with arms crossed waiting for you to prove yourself; He's already running toward you with the party planned, the robe ready, the ring polished. He's not blessing you because you cleaned up—He's blessing you because that's who He IS, and you're His.
