"God will only meet my needs, not my wants."
How it sounds in your head: God covers the basics like food and shelter, but anything beyond that is selfish to ask for. He's not interested in the things I actually want, just survival needs. Wanting more means I'm greedy.
"Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart."
-- Psalm 37:4Source: Religious teaching that creates false division between needs and wants, making God a minimalist provider.
Church messages emphasize 'daily bread' and warn against wanting too much, so she's learned that God is a bare-minimum provider. Desires beyond basics feel greedy or unspiritual to voice.
They ran out of wine at a wedding—not a need, a WANT for celebration. Jesus didn't provide cheap wine or just enough. He made 180 gallons of the FINEST quality wine instantly.
I REFUSE the lie that God only meets needs, not wants. IT IS WRITTEN that He gives me the DESIRES of my heart, and He does exceedingly abundantly above all I ask or think. Jesus made the finest wine for a party—extravagance, not survival. The prodigal got the best robe and fattened calf, not beans and rice. The BARAK blessing includes ABUNDANCE, not bare minimums. IT IS WRITTEN that God wishes above all that I prosper, and the Father's nature is generosity, not stinginess. I receive provision that covers both needs AND desires because He's a GOOD Father who delights in giving good gifts.
The Father isn't counting pennies or limiting you to the basics. He's the one who killed the fattened calf, gave the best robe, threw the party—extravagant provision because He delights in blessing His children beyond survival.
