"God wants me humble, and being rich would make me proud."
How it sounds in your head: I've heard that pride comes before a fall, and rich people seem arrogant. Maybe God keeps me without much so I stay humble and dependent on Him. If I had a lot, I might forget God.
"And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day."
-- Deuteronomy 8:18Religion confusing humility with poverty and equating provision with pride.
Adults say things like 'Don't get a big head' when I do well. It seems like having less keeps me grounded, and having more would make me cocky or self-reliant.
David, called a man after God's own heart, gave 'three thousand talents of gold...and seven thousand talents of refined silver' (1 Chronicles 29:3-4) for the temple—billions in today's money. His humility wasn't in being broke; it was in using his massive wealth for God's glory.
I REFUSE the lie that God withholds wealth to keep me humble. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 8:18 that God GIVES me power to get wealth to establish His covenant. Humility isn't about how little I have—it's about recognizing everything comes from Him. Abraham, Moses, David, and Solomon were humble AND wealthy. IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 3:13-14 that I'm redeemed from the curse and blessed with Abraham's BARAK blessing. I receive wealth without pride, using it to bless others and build the kingdom.
Your Father isn't keeping provision from you to teach you a lesson—He's running toward you with resources, trusting you'll remember where they came from. He made David insanely wealthy because David's heart stayed true, and He's doing the same for you.
