"God uses sickness to teach us lessons. It's wrong to pray against what He's using for my growth."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe this cancer is God's way of getting my attention. Perhaps I need to learn patience or dependence through this suffering. If I pray for healing, am I resisting His purposes? Maybe I should accept this as His will.
"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
-- Acts 10:38Source: Religious teaching that makes God the author of disease and suffering for character development.
Decades of sermons about suffering building character and Romans 8:28 working all things for good. His pain has deepened his prayer life, so maybe that was God's plan all along.
SATAN afflicted Job, not God - God's entire response to Job's friends was anger at their suggestion He caused the suffering. When ordeal ended, God didn't gradually restore but DOUBLED everything Job lost and healed him completely - immediate reversal.
I REFUSE the lie that God authors sickness to teach me. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus healed ALL who were oppressed by the devil - disease is demonic oppression, not divine instruction. God was WITH Jesus when He healed, not when He made sick. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus came to destroy the devil's works, and my sickness is the devil's work being destroyed. The Father teaches me by His Spirit and His Word, not by tormenting my body with disease. I receive healing as His will, not rebellion against His purposes. Every healing Jesus did was the Father's will.
The Father isn't the one attacking your body - He's the one running toward you with healing because He's a good Father who gives good gifts, not a cruel teacher who torments His children with disease. Jesus revealed the Father's heart: healing everyone He encountered.
