"God must want me to learn something through this pain—it's purposeful suffering."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe I'm supposed to develop patience or compassion. Perhaps God is using this to refine me, to teach me dependence. If I just learn the lesson, maybe then He'll take it away. What am I missing that I'm still suffering?
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
-- James 1:17Religious teaching making God the author of suffering, confusing discipline with disease, turning the Father into a sadistic teacher who tortures to educate.
She's heard countless sermons about God's purposes in suffering and read books about pain being a gift. It feels more spiritual to find meaning than to demand healing.
Disciples asked if his blindness was caused by his sin or his parents' sin—assuming suffering had a spiritual lesson. Jesus said NEITHER—it wasn't about punishment or teaching, but about displaying God's works, then immediately HEALED him.
I REFUSE the lie that God is authoring this pain to teach me. IT IS WRITTEN that every good and perfect gift comes from the Father—pain is neither good nor perfect nor from Him. My Father doesn't torture me to train me; that's the enemy's slander against His character. The thief brings pain; Jesus brings abundant life. IT IS WRITTEN in 1 John 3:8 that Jesus came to DESTROY the works of the devil—pain is the devil's work, not Dad's curriculum. I am under the BARAK blessing where God commands blessing on my body, not lessons through suffering. I receive the finished work NOW—healing is my inheritance, not something I earn through patient endurance of pain.
Your Father isn't withholding healing until you learn something—He's already provided everything through the cross. He's not the teacher assigning pain as homework; He's the Healer running toward you with wholeness because that's WHO HE IS.
