"God must be tired of my repeated confessions for the same sins."
How it sounds in your head: How many times can I confess the same thing? I've said 'I'm sorry' for this particular sin ten thousand times. God must be rolling His eyes by now. 'Here he comes again with the same thing. Will he EVER learn?'
"My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."
-- 1 John 2:1Source: Religion modeled God after human patience limits, suggesting His forgiveness has a quota and His mercy a breaking point.
He's confessed the same struggles for DECADES—lust, anger, pride, whatever his thorn is—and the repetition makes him feel like he's exhausting God's patience. Human relationships have breaking points, so surely God's forgiveness has a limit too.
Peter thought he was being generous asking if seven times was enough to forgive. Jesus said 'seventy times seven'—490 times, which means UNLIMITED. If Jesus requires unlimited forgiveness from US, how much more does HE practice it toward us?
I REFUSE the lie that God's patience with me has a limit or that His forgiveness has a quota. IT IS WRITTEN that I have an Advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ the righteous—and He LIVES to make intercession for me. Every single time. Forever. IT IS WRITTEN that where sin abounds, grace abounds MUCH MORE. My Father is not tired—He is SATISFIED by the blood of Jesus. One sacrifice covers ten thousand confessions. Jesus told Peter to forgive 490 times—how much MORE does my Father forgive me? The BARAK blessing covered Abraham's REPEATED lies. Covenant doesn't have confession quotas. I am forever forgiven, forever loved, forever His son.
Your Father isn't rolling His eyes—He's running toward you every single time. Jesus is standing before the Father RIGHT NOW saying 'This one is MINE, covered by MY blood,' and that advocacy never expires.
