"God made a mistake when He created my broken body."
How it sounds in your head: Why would a good God make me this way? My body has never worked right. If He's sovereign, then He designed this brokenness. Either He's not good or He's not in control.
"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."
-- Psalm 139:14Religious teaching blames God for suffering, making people believe their pain is His intentional design rather than enemy's work in fallen world.
Decades of disability have raised the theological question she can't answer: if God is good and powerful, why did He allow this? The only conclusion seems to be that He wanted it this way.
Born blind, disciples asked, 'Who sinned, this man or his parents?' Jesus said NEITHER—'that the works of God should be revealed in him.' Then Jesus IMMEDIATELY healed him. God didn't cause the blindness; He got GLORY through the healing.
I REFUSE the lie that God designed my disability. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made, marvelous in His sight. My body's limitations are result of the FALL, not the Father's design. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus came to DESTROY the works of the devil, and He healed EVERY disability He encountered. God's heart is WHOLENESS. I am precious, beloved, perfectly created in His image. The BARAK blessing of Abraham is mine through Christ—blessing, not curse. I receive the Father's original design over my life: LIFE and LIFE ABUNDANTLY.
The Father didn't design your disability any more than He designed the thorns and thistles of the curse. Jesus healed EVERY broken body He met—that's the Father's heart. Like the man born blind, God gets GLORY through your story, not through your suffering.
